Jury Deliberates Officer's Fate

The jury has the case of a now former Palm Beach Gardens cop charged with killing a stranded I-95 driver.

Nouman Raja faces up to life in prison if jurors unanimously agree he's guilty of attempted first degree murder. They could also return verdicts on lesser charges including manslaughter by culpable negligence and aggravated assault.

Prosecutor Brian Fernandes calls Raja a disgrace, calling him the initial aggressor in the attack. He says Raja was working undercover and never properly identified himself as an officer when he approached Corey Jones and his broken down car on the side of the road.

Defense attorney Richard Lubin argues Raja shot in self-defense.He says Jones was armed and pointed a gun at the officer, leading to the shooting.

Deliberations started shortly after noon Wednesday.
