Lake Okeechobee Discharges Are Becoming Point Of Controversy In FL Election

Water problems caused by discharges from Lake Okeechobee are becoming an election issue in the state of Florida.

On Monday afternoon, Republican candidate for governor Ron DeSantis will be in Stuart to get a look at the situation for himself.

DeSantis will join GOP Congressman Brian Mast of Palm City for a tour of the St. Lucie River.

The Lake O discharges are blamed for toxic algae that's shown up in both the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers.
