FL Man Shoots Service Dog After Allegedly Being Bit On The Arm

A Florida man who shot a service dog claims he was attacked.

According to police, the shooting happened Sunday afternoon in Miami Beach on 82nd Street.

The victim, Matt Ellis, said the pit bull mix, named Bentley, is his girlfriend’s dog. Ellis said he was holding a box of pizza when the canine jumped on him and bit him in his left arm.

Officials say the dog was taken to an animal hospital, and it's expected to recover.

However, the dog’s owner said she is unable to afford a necessary, life-saving surgery to drain fluid from Bentley's lungs, and she could be forced to make a heartbreaking decision.

She has started a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses.
