Broward Man Gets Life In Prison For 1997 Fatal Robbery

A South Florida man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of a fatal robbery that took place in 1997.

Fifty-year-old Bennie Hall was sentenced this week. He was convicted in May of first-degree murder.

Authorities say Olga Parlante was found beaten and strangled in her Dania Beach apartment in March 1997.

Initially, authorities said there were no suspects in the case. In 2012, however, a palm print left at the scene got a hit from a statewide database of convicted felons.

The print matched to Hall, who was in prison on an unrelated drug conviction at the time.
