Police: Man Stabs Wife Outside Of Lauderhill Baby's "R" Us

Authorities say a man attacked his wife with a box cutter outside of a Lauderhill Babies "R" Us store on Tuesday.

Witnesses say 53-year-old George Hernandez and his wife, Lillian Manante, were arguing inside their parked car around 3 p.m. in the 7300 block of West Commercial Blvd when Hernandez began stabbing Manante with a box cutter.

Manante, 51, jumped out of the car, but Hernandez continued to attack her until bystanders intervened, police said. Police said Hernandez slashed Manate at least six times across her upper torso.

Police said Hernandez and Manante were recently married. Before the attack, Hernandez claimed Manate was "putting voodoo on him and having evil spirits," police said.

Hernandez now faces a charge of attempted pre-meditated murder.

Police described Manante's injuries as not life-threatening, but she was taken to Broward Health North in Pompano Beach for treatment.
