Gov. Rick Scott Heads To Puerto Rico For 5th Time Since Maria

Florida Governor Rick Scott is embarking on his fifth trip to Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria devastated the island between September and October.

Republican Gov. Scott will leave Monday. His office said he will be traveling to assist and guide emergency management workers and government leaders in the U.S. territory.

Less than two weeks ago, Scott announced that he will run for U.S. Senate, challenging three-term Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. The election will be held in November.

The Puerto Rican vote could be a key in the election.

Florida had a large Puerto Rican population before Hurricane Maria, and thousands have relocated to the state since the storm hit the island in September.
