Florida Kids Sue State, Lawmakers For Allegedly Ignoring Climate Change

The state of Florida, Gov. Rick Scott and the Public Service Commission are being sued by a bunch of kids between the ages of 10 and 20.

Eight Florida kids are suing the state for failure to do anything about climate change. Oscar Psychas, 20, of Gainesville, says state politicians have a legal duty to preserve the environment for future generations.

After the Parkland shooting, students from Stoneman Douglas High forced Florida's politicians to do something about guns in schools. Now another group is demanding action at hands of climate change.

The kids claim state officials have a legal and moral obligation to protect future generations from global warming... even if they refuse to use the term. The governor calls it "political theater."

Psychas says who run the state are turning a blind eye to climate change and endangering their future.

The lawsuit in state court is part of a nationwide campaign by a group called "Our Children's Trust."

They've filed a similar lawsuit against the U.S. government in federal court.
