Bird Causes Power Outage For 11,000 Floridians

A little birdie caused a big problem for residents across North Florida.

Gulf Power officials say a nesting bird led to a power outage that affected multiple Florida cities and knocked out power for more than 11,000 people.

Customers in eastern Bay County lost power shortly before 11 a.m. Monday after the bird entered Gulf Power's Parker substation.

Officials described the bird as small and said Gulf Power's substations are gated but open on top.

Power was restored to most customers within 45 minutes.

Bye, bye birdie!
