Violent Incident Caught On Camera At North Miami High School

Parents are outrages after a violent incident at Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School in North Miami Beach was caught on camera Tuesday.

The footage shows two female students in a physical altercation.

Alejandra Mendez told NBC6 that the incident all began over a seat in the classroom.

"I told her nicely to go somewhere else because that was my seat, so I sat there. She threw my phone and I stood up and told her 'OK, then sit down' and she started hitting me," Alejandra said.

Alejandra is seen being punched in the face by another student who is also pulling her hair and yelling profanities.

Alejandra's parents reportedly do not want their daughter to return to school unless authorities are able to ensure her safety. The parents for both students will meet with administrators on Wednesday.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools released a statement regarding the incident:

"We are conducting a thorough review to determine the factors that led to this unfortunate incident. One, if not both, students will be disciplined according to the Code of Student Conduct. As always, we will continue to emphasize the importance of restraint and respect to our students."
