Facial Recognition Technology Debuts At Miami International Airport

New technology being used at Miami International Airport looks to lessen the wait time for passport travelers.

For the first time at one of the country’s busiest airports, facial recognition technology aims to shorten the customs line and to make international flights easier to board.

The software will be used at Concourse E, which is now a renovated federal inspection facility.

The machines are estimated to screen passports for about 10 passengers per minute – using technology which will match the traveler with the document they are presenting.

Travelers will also be able to offer passport clearance via Global Entry kiosks as well as a mobile app while also seeing a reduction in the distance in travel for those who previously had to check in at Concourse D and walk to other areas of the airport.
