Florida Panthers Honor Parkland Shooting Victims, Survivors Before Game

The Florida Panthers are keeping the school shooting victims from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in their thoughts.

The team played its first home game Thursday night since last week's mass shooting.

Before the game started, the Panthers held a tribute for the lives lost. Players, including goalie Roberto Luongo, took to the microphone, calling for an end to the violence.

Luongo said the time for action is now after 17 students and faculty from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High lost their lives. He called the teachers that protected the students true heroes that should be put on a pedestal forever.

Luongo concluded by praising the surviving students for being vocal in trying to create change moving forward.

A "MSDStrong" insignia was displayed along the boards of the rink.

Following faceoff, the game had a lot of back and fourth, but towards the end with 19 seconds left.... Vincent Trocheck scored the winning goal.

Next up for the Panthers, they will host the Pittsburgh Penguins this Saturday.
