Parents Of 7-Year-Old Handcuffed FL Student Considering Legal Action

The parents of a 7-year-old boy led away from his Miami school in handcuffs are considering legal action against the Miami-Dade School District.

School police said that, last Thursday, the boy attacked his teacher at Coral Way Bilingual K-through-8 Center after having been reprimanded for playing with his food.

He reportedly and reportedly “attacked the teacher by repeatedly punching her on her back, in the hallway” as he was escorted from the lunch room.

“Once the teacher restrained the juvenile from attacking her, the juvenile continued to fight her with his fists and legs, causing both the teacher and the juvenile to fall to the ground,” a report claimed, and said he kept up the attack while down on the ground.

A video recorded by the boy's mother shows an officer walking her son in handcuffs across the school grounds and into a patrol car, which took him to a hospital for evaluation.

Police said the boy was Baker-Acted to protect himself and others from further harm.

The boys' parents think handcuffing went too far.
