Florida City Police Hand Out Meal, Shoes And Socks To Homeless

A group of South Florida police officers wanted to make sure that everyone had a warm meal, even during the cold weather snap in South Florida.

Florida City Police went to a Pollo Tropical Wednesday night and purchased 50 meals that they thrn handed out to the homeless.

“We went to Pollo Tropical here in Florida City,” said Florida City Corporal Ken Armenteros. “ We partnered up and we put our money together and bought about 50 meals. We’ve been going out to the city tonight, handing them out to everybody.

"On a cold night, we know everybody’s going to have a hot meal and that’s one less thing that they have to worry about and that’s our gift from us to them because at the end of the day, we’re all in it together.”

Another Florida City officer headed out Wednesday evening in Homestead to hand out shoes and socks to citizens on the streets and in need ahead of a cold blast hitting the area.

"The small gesture brightened their days and reminds us that we are all in this together and should look out for one another. Regardless of race, gender or economic status. Every little bit counts," Florida City Police said on their Facebook page.
