A Miami-Dade police officer was wounded in a shooting that left another person dead this Wednesday in a Walmart parking lot, police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.
The shooting was reported in the parking lot of a Walmart on Northwest 79th Street.
The officer was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He is in stable condition.
A suspect was also reportedly shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
Several police officers could be seen gathered outside the hospital. Authorities had closed down a section of Interstate 95 southbound so the officer could be taken to a nearby hospital.
Nobody was being allowed in or out of the Walmart parking lot.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting, per Miami-Dade police policy.
