Miami Police Chief Delays Retirement, Sticks Around A Little Longer

While some can't wait for retirement, Miami's police chief is in no hurry.

Instead of retiring Tuesday, Rudy Llanes has once again postponed his retirement and has agreed to stay on into next year.

City Manager Daniel Alfonso announced Llanes’ contract extension in a Friday memo to city commissioners.

Llanes' contract was extended last week through the end of March.

This is the second time in less than two years that Llanes has postponed his retirement.
