Key West Man Arrested For Hiding 340 Grams Of Cocaine Inside Cookie Monster

A 39-year-old Key West man is in jail after officers found more than 300 grams of cocaine hidden inside a Cookie Monster doll in his car.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputy Orey Swilley was parked at 14th Street and highway U.S. One in Marathon just after 12 a.m. Wednesday when he spotted a black Dodge drive past with the license plate obscured.

He pulled the car over and identified the driver as Camus McNair.

Deputy Swilley says he could smell marijuana as soon as McNair rolled down the car window. He has McNair exit the car to conduct a search.

A search of the vehicle turned up a backpack. Inside the backpack was a blue “Cookie Monster” doll.

Noticing the doll weighed more than it should have, Swiley decided to take a closer look. Inside a slit cut in the doll's fabric were two packages containing what turned out to be a total of 314 grams of cocaine.

McNair was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine.
