Florida Judge Suspended For Misleading Campaign "Praise"

A Florida judge is being suspended without pay for 90 days because of the "praise" used on her misleading campaign material.

The state Supreme Court ordered the punishment for Circuit Judge Kimberly Shepard on Thursday. After the Orlando Sentinel endorsed her opponent in 2014, Shepard used campaign advertising that quoted a 20-year-old endorsement from the same newspaper that was published when she sought re-election to the state House.

The court found Shepard deliberately deceived voters because she didn't point out that the praise from the Sentinel was in 1994 and was unrelated to her campaign to be elected judge.
