Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords spoke at the Senate’s hearing on gun violence on Wednesday, appearing alongside her husband Mark Kelly. Giffords — who was critically injured after being shot in head in 2011 — made an emotional appeal to Congress to act quickly.

“This is an important conversation for our children, for our communities, for Democrats and Republicans. Speaking is difficult, but I need to say something important,” Giffords said. “Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying. Too many children. We must do something.”
