Miami is helping Uber test a new safety feature.

The rideshare app yesterday rolled out a new rider verification badge program.

Miami is one of twelve cities the company is using in a pilot program.

In a statement Uber says: "Our rider verification process involves cross-checking a rider’s account information provided during signup against third-party databases. In cases where we can’t validate the information attached to a rider's account, riders can choose to upload a government ID."

An Uber official says this has been a top request of drivers across the country, and it's designed to give them peace of mind.
